Our next door neighbor unexpectedly passed away last May and unexpectedly left his 3 kitties homeless…after a month they were invited to our house by our own aging cat. One of the kitties (a white DSH with yellow eyes…I named him Kimba) is experiencing a very painful condition in his mouth called "stomatitis". We had him checked at the vet and he is negative on live threatening diseases…but it will cost around $800.00 to have his teeth removed to stop the horrible pain. In the meantime we have him on l-lysine for cats and a special anti plaque powder and colloidal silver…he is finally eating with less pain now but he still has episodes of pain when he forgets and yawns…(poor baby). He is a great cat…my husband adores him which is a miracle unto itself. So I thought a way to raise the funds needed for his dental surgery is to make needle felted soft sculptures of him…I hope you think that's as good an idea as I do. He is one of the most grateful souls I have ever met. Here is Kimba enjoying my husbands lap.

I Felted a Knitted Purse!

I am so excited! I knitted a purse (first time I picked up knitting needles in 30 years!)!
Then I felted it by putting it in a top loader washing machine on HOT with a Warm rinse (mind you I don't wash my own cloths...my DH does it so this is a big deal).
Tah DAH! Here is the result!
I am going to either create a needle felted clasp or reuse an old vintage earring for the clasp...we'll see what happens!

Wholey Moley,
A lot has happened since I started this blog...we had a tragedy as we lost one of our beloved horses, Twinkie. She injured herself and we had to have her put to sleep on March 12th.
Whew, that was something I don't wish on anyone. I've had other pets put to sleep before...but never a horse. She went quite easy and I was blessed being there and feeling her go through me as she exited her physical body....we miss her as it's only be a little over a month...but I'm handling her passing quite different than I used to when I lost a pet. Before I would be devasted for months and pretty much useless to myself and others but this time; I feel her still and although there is of course a physical sense of loss...but not one in my heart...she's still there.

My First Blog

Howdy Everyone,
I finally have stepped out into the world of blogging.
I intend to use this wonderful tool as a vehicle for displaying, learning and cultivating my existing art skills as well as my blossoming new found crafts...and who knows what else!
